You Poster analysis

Analysis

The cover for You uses a main image that uses three people. The person in the middle is the main character who is making direct address with the camera. This draws the audience’s attention to him and makes him the main focus of the poster. The two women are less of a focus to the audience because they are slightly out of focus, and we see less of their faces. Neither of them looks directly at the camera\ which makes them less of a focus. The poster uses the title of the show, as well as a tagline, the release date and the Netflix logo. The show’s title is the biggest piece of text and uses an unconventional font making it look sliced in half. The other piece of text uses a very simple font and are much smaller. The colour palette is neutral and uses light colours such as blue, cream and brown. This colour scheme is appealing to a female audience. It likely appeals to an audience of around 18-25 especially since the characters we see are around 20. The characters are placed diagonally. This ensures our attention is drawn the to centre of the image which is the main protagonist of the thriller. The other two women are off to either side of him, so their placement draws less attention to them.
