Statement of intent.
My thriller is going to be about two girls who are best friends. However, one of them is secretly plotting against the other and aims to kill her. These girls are aged 16 so the intended target audience is females aged 16-25. The target audience will be attracted to the thriller because they will feel represented by the characters. This age group will also be attracted to the show considering crime is a popular topic among the intended age group. Both of the people on the cover of the poster will be of the age group that the poster is targeted towards which will attract them.
For my print advertisement, I will follow the ASA guidelines. To do this, I will not include any imagery that is inappropriate or graphic that may be upsetting for people outside of the target audience such as young people. Since my posters will be placed in busy areas such as town centres and cities where many people will see them, this is important. The broadcasting time will also be past a certain time to ensure that it is unlikely that young children will be watching to avoid them seeing distressing images.
The thriller will represent two different groups of people; victims and villains. The victim will be presented in a positive way so that the audience feels sympathy for them whereas the villain will be presented negatively by being shown as cruel and dangerous. The character who is a victim will be shown to be innocent and sweet looking so that the audience feel positively represented by her.
The layout and images used for my posters will appeal to my intended target audience as the colour scheme will use shades of pink to attract females as well as red which is a commonly used colour in the crime thriller genre. The font I will use will be bold and stand out to make it more visually appealing.
